I am an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern University. I am leading the Advanced Intelligent Manufacturing Laboratory. Inside Northwestern, I serve as the associate director of Northwestern Initiative for Manufacturing Science and Innovation. I am also an affiliate faculty member of Center for Robotics and Biosystems, Paula M. Trienens Institute for Sustainability and Energy, and International Institute for Nanotechnology.
Beyond Northwestern University, I serve as the Associate Editor for Journal of Manufacturing Processes and Journal of Micro and Nano Science and Engineering. I serve in various academic society committees including ASME Manufacturing Engineering Division, American Society for Precision Engineering (ASPE), International Institute for Micro Manufacturing (I2M2), International Forum on MicroManufacturing (IFMM). I am also an Associate Member of International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP).
I got my bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2009. I studied advanced manufacturing at Northwestern University and earned my Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2014. Before joining Northwestern University as an Assistant Professor in 2018, I spent four years at the Chinese University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor. In September 2023, I was promoted to tenured Associate Professor at Northwestern University.
